As we mentioned in our previous post, we have made the tough choice to migrate our training content from our old platform to one that meets our needs better.
The last one was actually pretty good. It just was geared towards people selling individual courses to other individuals. We do that, but we also sell subscriptions and bundles. On top of that, we sell to leaders in their company who want training access for groups of their employees. Our new platform handles that sort of B2B sales and memberships far better.
So there are some drawbacks, but on the whole, we are finding that this is a remarkably powerful platform.
Making a migration plan is a challenge. It takes a lot of time, and that means prioritizing.
On top of that, there are some platform enhancements coming shortly, and that will greatly improve the look and feel of courses--all while making them easier to migrate.
So....what have we already accomplished...
- We've made our Continuous Improvement Companion structure. That means all the terms have a home, and we loaded a preview of all of them so the summary shows up in the listing.
- We migrated all the videos we are keeping. It is a big project to load hundreds of videos. We have weeded out the videos that are specific to our old platform, and have made all the video content available in our courses.
- We have set up all of our trainer download packs in our Velaction Training System (formerly the Lean Training System.) You'll find a PowerPoint for each module, student guides for most, and a handful of additional items.
- We have gotten all of our forms set up. There is still a lot of content to move over, but all the downloads are available. That includes our free content.
We have a lot of little projects to work on. Cleaning things up that we made mistakes on as we were learning. Updating our product pages. Getting our storefront calibrated for the new site. Changing over our google traffic system. Migraging non-lesson content (i.e. quizzes, surveys, specialty forms, etc.) Just an endless list of projects.
But what we are really wanting to do is get as much of this little stuff done so that as soon as the new course editor is done, we can hit the ground running.
