Welcome to Our New Platform

Jeff Hajek

I love new technology. I don't want to be on the cutting edge, but I like to closely follow the early adopters, when it makes sense.

Sometimes, though, something is new to me, but it's been around for a while. When I chose my online training platform to build my academy and resource center on, I thought I had done my due diligence. For some reason, I passed on the one I am switching to now.

I don't recall it being in the early mix. I do remember seeing it a while back, and passing on it. For the life of me, I can't recall why now, and I am kicking myself for the oversight.
But recently, I started pushing my previous system beyond its limits. It doesn't do well with the large number of courses I have, it is limited on its marketing tools, and, most importantly, it doesn't have the membership tools I need.

Now, I still like the old platform, and there are several things it does really well. In the aggregate, though, it turns out that this new platform serves my purposes better.

What's in the New Platform?

The biggest benefit, and the one that drove me to switch, is the membership functions. This one supports a multi-tier system. The old one does not.

But as I have been turning over rocks, I have found a lot of back end things that make life easier on me. It won't directly affect you, but working with a faster system that saves me time means you get more content options.

I am also extremely excited about the interactive video tools that are available in this new platform. Look for things like tables of contents and clickable hotspots within videos. Perhaps I'll mention a term, and you'll see a link popup that lets you pause the video and check out what that term means.

Anyway, that's all for this update. Keep an eye out in your inbox, or check back here for news about our migration progress. It's slow going, but worth the effort to be able to give you a better product.
