The Policy Deployment Bowler is one of three forms that form the core of Policy Deployment. The PD Matrix is done early on and remains somewhat static. Policy Deployment Action Plans are not generally private document, used by leaders to keep themselves on track.

The PD Bowler, though, is a very public document that is on display for each leader in every monthly Policy Deployment review. PD reviews should be done a bit before the middle of the month, every month. That gives subordinate leaders a chance to compile their data and send it up for compilation. They will also be conducting operations reviews, which provide the core information for PD Reviews.

As you probably inferred from this Policy Deployment Matrix being part of a system, there is a wealth of information that accompanies it.

This includes the following:

• Policy Deployment Matrix: This tool is used to establish targets and responsibilites for improvement priorities.
• Policy Deployment Action Plan: This tool is designed to help you track the tasks related to hitting your PD targets. It also requires that you estimate improvement progress. This estimate is what ends up on our PD Bowler. Note that very few plans should ever involve linear progress.
• Policy Deployment Training Module: We have a system of training modules that you combine to help teams progress through the phases of building a continuous improvement system.
• Policy Deployment Training Module Download Pack: This is a Master Black Belt resource. It allows you to download, and share training materials for the PD Module within your company.

Policy Deployment is one of the first tools taught in our CI Development System for a reason. It does two main things.

It confirms that senior leaders are willing to commit to change. If they don't do it early on, they will likely waver later on down the road when there have been a lot of resources committed to developing a CI-oriented business system.

The other thing that PD does is sets the conditions for success in later phases. It acts as a contract and a highly visible commitment to lofty goals. It takes an 'all-in' approach to hit those goals.
